About the role
Direct craft personnel and subcontractors; schedule and sequence day-to-day activities of work; interface with client personnel to ensure satisfaction; oversee projects to assure compliance with contract scope and quality; enforce site cleanliness, safety, health, and substance abuse programs; proactively solve problems that could delay construction; manage permits and inspections; monitor progress and compliance; maintain and update as-built drawings; attend progress meetings; and ensure effective constructability efforts. Performance of duties is typically unsupervised.
Location: On-site in Erwin, Tennessee.
Responsibilities
- Serve on Capital Project Teams during initial project development to resolve constructability and compliance issues.
- Assist Project Engineer and subcontractor in development and resource loading of Work Breakdown Structures.
- Coordinate Safety, Security, Medical, Radiological, and Training entry and work requirements for contractors.
- Direct subcontractors and laborers, conduct job briefings, and supervise activities to ensure accurate installation.
- Coordinate process or facility shutdowns as needed for system renovation or utility system tie-ins.
- Review project assignments and scheduled priorities to assure proper and effective resource utilization.
- Perform assessment of required field changes and obtain approval from lead project engineer when necessary.
- Maintain and update as-built drawings for accuracy and historical data.
- Exercise control over assigned projects to ensure subcontractor conformance to quality and safety specifications.
- Provide input to project schedules related to construction activities.
- Review and update construction schedules to include resource allocation, percent complete, and percent remaining.
- Perform duties on weekends or after hours for all projects under construction as needed.
- Complete installation and verification/inspection and develop/oversee completion punch lists.
- Perform investigations to determine underlying causes of unplanned events and determine corrective actions.
- Assist and/or perform site and/or project surveys and elevation verifications.
- Utilize NFS application systems to determine and correct contractor restrictions and deficiencies.
Requirements
- Associate Degree in a technical field OR four (4) years of equivalent experience in construction-related activities in lieu of degree.
- Nine (9) to ten (10) years' experience in construction and/or maintenance with an A.S. degree OR thirteen (13) years' experience in construction-related activities in lieu of degree.
- A contractor's license is desired but not required.
- U.S. citizenship with (no dual citizenship) and ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy (DOE) security clearance, which involves an extensive criminal and financial background investigation, drug test, and previous employment reference verifications.
