About the Role

The Superintendent directs employees, sub-contractors, material suppliers, and inspectors on specific projects under the direction of the Project Manager. As the field representative of Brackett Builders, Inc., the Superintendent organizes the work and coordinates various aspects of construction, ensuring standards are met or exceeded.

Responsibilities

  • Read and interpret plans and specifications, technical procedures, and governmental regulations.
  • Consult with engineers, architects, and owners on design problems.
  • Accurately estimate cost, materials, and laborers needed for construction in cooperation with others.
  • Evaluate alternative methods of construction for cost efficiency and quality.
  • Establish standard operating procedures based on evaluation of construction methods.
  • Organize workforce and assign work.
  • Supervise laborers and subcontractors, establishing workflow and priorities to maintain quality and efficiency.
  • Coordinate, direct, and schedule work by sub-contractors, understanding their basic concepts and methods.
  • Establish quality control standards and supervise their implementation.
  • Accurately complete weekly production reports, timesheets, and other records.
  • Keep abreast of the latest trends in the construction industry.
  • Maintain a high degree of integrity and loyalty toward the company and customers.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent, or 1 to 3 years of equivalent experience.
  • Valid Driver’s License.
  • Strong problem-solving and multi-tasking abilities.
  • Ability to give clear directions and respond to inquiries.
  • Exceptional customer service skills.

Work Environment

The Superintendent works onsite with external and internal customers, subcontractors, and vendors. While most work is completed indoors, conditions may vary due to remodeling, relocation, or restructuring. The role may require time spent outside in varying temperatures.

Physical Requirements

The Superintendent’s physical condition must support the consistent completion of responsibilities. This position frequently requires:

  • Standing, walking, and sitting.
  • Reaching with hands and arms, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling.
  • Using hands to finger, handle, or feel.
  • Talking or hearing.

Lifting requirements:

  • Up to 10 pounds: Over 66% of the time.
  • Up to 50 pounds: Under 33% of the time.
  • Up to 100 pounds: None.
  • More than 100 pounds: None.
