Job Title: Construction Superintendent – Community Solar ProjectsJob Description This role oversees day-to-day construction activities for community solar projects across Illinois, typically ranging from 1 to 2.5 MW in size. The Construction Superintendent manages on-site operations from the project trailer, coordinates subcontractors, enforces safety and regulatory standards, and ensures the project stays on schedule and within quality expectations. This is a project-based contract opportunity with the potential to gain significant experience in the renewable energy industry and the possibility of future long-term engagement. Responsibilities Manage daily on-site construction operations for community solar projects from the project trailer.Oversee and coordinate electrical and civil subcontractors, working closely with their foremen to ensure effective execution of work.Handle on-site administrative duties, including daily documentation, reporting, and coordination activities.Report directly to the Senior Construction Manager, providing daily progress and safety reports for each project.Enforce all safety and regulatory policies and procedures on site to maintain a safe working environment.Set and communicate daily and weekly productivity standards and expectations for contractors and subcontractors.Develop and maintain a three-week look-ahead schedule and collaborate with the Senior Construction Manager to ensure milestones and deadlines are met.Coordinate deliveries of materials and equipment with the logistics team and subcontractors to support uninterrupted construction progress.Review and interpret construction blueprints, project plans, and specifications on a daily basis to guide on-site activities.Ensure work performed meets quality standards and aligns with project plans, specifications, and regulatory requirements.Monitor site conditions and adjust workflows as needed to address issues, delays, or changes in project scope.Use Microsoft Office tools to manage schedules, reports, documentation, and communication related to the project.Support a culture of safety, collaboration, and accountability among all on-site personnel. Essential Skills Proven construction management experience in commercial projects, preferably in electrical or civil construction.Ability to manage and coordinate multiple subcontractors and sub vendors effectively on an active construction site.Strong ability to read and interpret construction blueprints, schematics, and project plans.Technical degree in Engineering or Construction Management, or extensive, demonstrated construction management experience in lieu of a degree.Proficiency with PDF, Microsoft Word, and Microsoft Excel, with strong overall computer literacy.Experience working in a field-based construction environment and managing day-to-day site operations.OSHA 10 certification.OSHA 30 certification (or the ability to obtain or renew OSHA 30 through an employer-supported class if needed).Solid understanding of safety and regulatory requirements on construction sites and the ability to enforce them consistently.Strong organizational and time management skills to develop and maintain look-ahead schedules and productivity standards.Effective communication skills for coordinating with the Senior Construction Manager, logistics teams, subcontractors, and other stakeholders. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience working on solar construction projects or in the renewable energy industry.Electrician or electrical trade experience, or a strong understanding of electrical systems in a construction context.Prior experience supervising community-scale or utility-scale energy projects.Familiarity with commercial-scale solar systems and related construction practices.Interest in building a long-term career in renewable energy through repeated project-based assignments.Ability to adapt to changing project needs and work effectively with diverse field teams. Work Environment The role is based on active solar construction sites across central and northwest Illinois, with work centered around a dedicated company trailer on each project. The environment includes multiple electrical and civil subcontractors working simultaneously, creating a dynamic and fast-paced field setting. Standard hours are Monday through Friday, generally 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., averaging about 40 hours per week. Overtime must be approved by a supervisor in advance and is not expected to be common in this position. Dress code consists of typical construction attire—jeans and a T-shirt—combined with appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) as required on site. The projects offer hands-on exposure to commercial-scale solar construction, modern renewable energy technologies, and a collaborative culture focused on safety, quality, and professional growth. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Stonefort, IL. Pay And Benefits The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $50.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
