About the role
Westwood Professional Services, Inc. is seeking a Construction Storm Water Field Lead to join our construction stormwater team. This candidate will be responsible for construction support activities that include, but are not limited to, field training, construction stormwater permitting, compliance, inspections, reporting and technical support for developers and/or contractors with implementation of the site Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plans Decommissioning Plans, Spill Pollution Prevention Plans.
Responsibilities
- Provide consulting and advisory services to EPC contractors and developers related to construction stormwater permitting, erosion and sediment control, and regulatory compliance
- Advise clients on NPDES construction stormwater permit requirements, SWPPP interpretation, inspection programs, and documentation strategies
- Serve as a technical escalation point for stormwater, ESC, and compliance challenges on active construction sites
- Conduct targeted field assessments to evaluate BMP performance, constructability, soil conditions, and compliance with permit requirements
- Review and interpret civil, grading, and ESC plans to identify constructability challenges, sequencing issues, and compliance risks
- Proactively work with contractors and project teams to develop practical, field appropriate corrective actions that reduce environmental and regulatory exposure
- Support pre construction site verification, including review of site conditions, civil layout, and logistical constraints
- Participate in post construction final stabilization and reclamation site visits, assisting with documentation of stabilization, permit termination, and close out requirements
- Provide guidance on soil handling, topsoil preservation, soil health, stabilization, and reclamation practices, particularly where sites transition to farming, restoration, or long term land management
- Support SPCC planning and implementation, including spill prevention guidance and oil storage field verification, as needed
- Prepare clear, concise technical memoranda, inspection summaries, and compliance documentation for client use
- Cook up with project managers, engineers, and regulatory agencies to support permitting, compliance resolution, and project close out
- Assist with mentoring or technically guiding junior staff or inspectors, as applicable
- Frequent overnight travel to project job sites may be required. (On average 50% or as assigned)
- Support other field staff and team members with field training and oversight.

Qualifications
- Minimum of 5 years of field experience supporting construction stormwater and erosion & sediment control on large-scale construction projects
- Active erosion and sediment control certification (state or equivalent), with demonstrated multi-year field application or ability to obtain state and national certifications (such as CPESC) within one (1) year.
- Strong ability to read, interpret, and apply civil, grading, and ESC drawings
- Working knowledge of NPDES construction stormwater permitting, SWPPP development and implementation, and regulatory compliance requirements
- Experience exercising sound professional judgment and providing practical, defensible recommendations to contractors, EPC teams, and developers
- Ability to communicate effectively with contractors, project managers, developers, and regulatory agencies
Skills
- Experience providing consulting services through an engineering or environmental firm
- Familiarity with SPCC plan development and spill prevention compliance
- Experience with soil management, reclamation planning, agricultural reuse, or restoration activities
- Experience supporting utility-scale, linear, renewable energy, or phased construction projects
- Professional certifications such as CPESC, CESSWI, or other state-specific credentials
