Construction Spring Internship 2027

About the role

Hoar is recruiting qualified applicants for our Internship Program who are studying civil engineering, construction engineering, or building/construction sciences for the Spring 2027 term. This position typically gains exposure to estimating, project management, and the field.

Responsibilities

• Gain an understanding of the construction process.
• Participate in quantity takeoff and quantity estimating.
• Work with the submittal process: maintain appropriate logs, review and approve shop drawings and submittals.
• Prepare transmittals for distribution for project documentation.
• Assist in jobsite setup, permitting, and closeout.

Requirements

• Currently enrolled as a full‑time student in an accredited college or university pursuing a four‑year or advanced degree in Construction Engineering, Civil Engineering, or Building Science.
• Maintain a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher.
• Available to work 40 hours per week during the spring semester.
• Completed college freshman year.
• Desire to pursue a career in the construction industry upon graduation.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Valid driver’s license.

Physical Demands and Working Environment

The work is performed in both indoor and outdoor settings with exposure to all weather and temperature conditions, requiring travel from site to site. Physical requirements include the ability to stand or sit for prolonged periods, occasionally stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, reach, and twist; lift, carry, push, or pull light to moderate weights; operate equipment requiring repetitive hand movement and fine coordination; and travel using various modes of private and commercial transportation. Vision and hearing must be within the normal range, with or without correction.
