Construction Specialist III

About the role

The Construction Specialist provides contractor oversight for field activities. This includes adherence to drawings and specifications, coordination of activities with existing facility, and oversight of safety, environmental, and QA/QC compliance. The role supports the Site Construction Manager in contractor management and serves as the interface for Discipline Engineers on construction issues.

Responsibilities

• Monitor performance by the contractor and their subcontractors regarding civil/earthwork, rebar fabrication/concrete placements, mechanical systems and piping (underground and above ground), electrical and instrumentation systems
• Ensure compliance with safe work practices and environmental work practices
• Monitor performance against the schedule
• Validate milestones and/or quantities submitted by the contractor for payment
• Assist in resolution of field problems as appropriate
• Identify and provide field observations of key work activities
• Ensure the quality of construction through continuous monitoring of the construction and installation QC process
• Communicate and collaborate with team members daily to address construction issues
• Attend project and department meetings as required

Requirements

• 10+ years of experience in construction
• Strong civil/earthwork/rebar fabrication/concrete placement experience in power plant construction is preferred
• Candidates at various experience levels will be considered depending on qualifications

Schedule

40-70 hours per week with possible night shift coverage.

Valid driver's license required; will be required to operate company vehicles onsite.
