Construction Shop / Yard Technician
Primary Responsibilities
- Aid in the movement, storage, and preparation of raw materials, finished products, and supplies.
- Receive incoming shipments, verify materials, stage inventory, and prepare outgoing orders for delivery or shipment.
- Safely load and unload trucks using forklifts, pallet jacks, and other approved equipment when authorized.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment by sweeping floors, pressure washing, painting, removing debris, and disposing of scrap materials.
- Support preventive maintenance activities by inspecting equipment, assisting with minor repairs, and reporting maintenance concerns.
- Organize warehouse inventory and maintain proper storage of materials, tools, parts, and supplies.
- Assist production personnel by preparing materials through sanding, abrasive blasting, masking, cleaning, and supporting coating and finishing operations.
- Operate company vehicles to complete local deliveries and material pickups as assigned.
- Overnight travel may be required approximately one time per month.
Minimum Qualifications
- Ability to safely perform physically demanding work for extended periods, including standing, walking, bending, kneeling, reaching, climbing, and repetitive movement.
- Ability to routinely lift, carry, push, or pull materials weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Strong commitment to workplace safety with the ability to consistently follow company policies and procedures.
- Dependable work ethic with strong attention to detail and the ability to complete repetitive tasks accurately.
- Willingness to learn new skills, equipment, and manufacturing processes.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision as well as collaboratively within a team environment.
- Ability to work both indoors and outdoors in changing weather and environmental conditions.
- Must possess a valid driver's license, maintain an acceptable driving record, and be at least 21 years of age to operate company vehicles for interstate, non-CDL travel.
Education and Experience
- A high school diploma, GED, or equivalent required.
- Previous experience in manufacturing, construction, warehouse operations, industrial environments, maintenance, or general labor is preferred but not required.
Safety Sensitive Position
- This is a Safety Sensitive Position requiring work on project sites, including federal projects, and in a heavy manufacturing facility with various safety hazards which are potentially life-threatening to the employee.
- This position may require working at heights, in confined spaces, around heavy equipment, and under constantly changing circumstances.
- This position may also entail project site work at night and on weekends on an as needed basis.
