Construction Senior Project Manager - (Energy and Infrastructure)
Kelley Construction is a multi-faceted commercial and industrial general contractor licensed to perform work in many states across the United States. We offer technical expertise in commercial construction including restaurants, medical facilities, warehousing, fast food chains, large design-build expansions, and general office renovation. We also have broad experience in industrial construction, from liquid storage and containment and petroleum-related construction to pre-engineered metal buildings and concrete construction.
About the role
To provide project management and oversight of heavy industrial projects with a focus on civil and concrete scopes. Activities include procurement, preparation of work plans, contract management, budget and schedule management, supervision of project teams, construction, and other duties as assigned.
Responsibilities
- Develops a cost-effective plan and schedule for completion of projects
- Oversees performance of all projects and timelines, including employees, contract trade workforce, and any subcontractors
- Oversees multiple projects up to and including $10M+ and/or of high complexity
- Ensures compliance with drawings, specifications, and regulations
- Responsible for proper administration of construction contracts and purchase orders
- Ensures full risk management, including identification of potential risks and initiating treatments as appropriate
- Reviews and responds to any safety concerns and/or infractions to ensure they are corrected and reported in a timely manner
- Tracks project schedule and ensures projects stay within estimated timeline
- Controls construction cost, deliveries, and schedule to achieve completion of project within budget allocation
- Manages the storage and organization of all project documents
- Communicates with owners about progress and any necessary modifications of plans
- Works under pressure to meet deadlines
- Travel as needed for control on assigned projects (less than 20%)
- Directs one or more Assistant Project Manager(s) / Project Engineer(s)
- Builds relationships with subcontractors and business partners in the market
- Indirectly mentors Project Managers on effective resolution strategies
- Provides input on execution strategies and schedule sequencing for bids as needed
- Performs all other duties as assigned
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or construction management
- 5+ years industrial construction project management experience in Oil & Gas, Petrochemical, Energy, and/or Renewables
- Large project, multi-million dollar, construction experience
- Ability to read and interpret engineered drawings, estimates, and work instructions
- Ability to develop and lead employees and contract workforce
- High-level of professionalism and confidentiality
- Proficient with MS Office, MS Project and/or Primavera, Bluebeam, AutoCAD, and Procore
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to establish credibility and be decisive while recognizing and supporting the organization's preferences and priorities
Physical Demands
- Must be able to lift, bend, stoop, and reach
- Must have the ability to sit for long periods of time, view computer monitor, and use keyboard
- Sitting and standing in an office environment
- The ability to walk a large job site and buildings at every phase of construction
- Traversing rough terrain can be expected while on the job site
