Construction Sales Consultant
About the role
Morton Buildings, Inc. is the industry leader in post-frame construction, with over 120 years in business and more than 10 manufacturing, fabrication, and shipping plants servicing over 100 construction centers nationwide. As a full-time Sales Consultant, you will be self-driven and motivated to increase market share within an assigned geographical territory while cultivating new customers and developing relationships with long-standing customers.
This challenging yet highly rewarding role operates in a team environment focused on delivering unparalleled-quality buildings backed by superior warranties. Approximately 70% of the role is pre-sale responsibilities—prospecting, lead generation, customer presentations, solution development, and guiding customers through early buying stages. The remaining 30% centers on post-sale project management, ensuring a seamless customer experience by coordinating project details, communicating with internal teams, and supporting the build through completion.
The territory includes Lansing, MI; Grand Rapids, MI; Harrison, MI; and Reed City, MI. Minimal overnight travel is required beyond the initial training and onboarding period.
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain an adequate sales funnel to sell at or above established sales budgets.
- Grow existing market share and be readily available during construction-related work hours.
- Coordinate all individuals involved in building projects, including MBI personnel, subcontractors, and permitting requirements.
- Integrate various technologies into day-to-day activities to manage complex projects from pre-sale to completion.
- Maintain customer confidentiality.
- Display excellent verbal and written communication, strong organizational skills, multi-tasking, and problem-solving abilities.
Requirements
- 2 years of sales or account management experience preferred OR 5 years of construction management experience.
- Associate or bachelor’s degree in business, construction, or project management preferred.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office and capable of maintaining an accurate and organized sales pipeline within Microsoft Dynamics CRM.
- Must reside within 30 miles of the assigned territory within 30 days of hire date.

Pay
Starting annual pay range of $65,000 to $85,000. The pay plan includes a base salary, training subsidy, and commission. Earnings expand year over year as consultants build experience, grow their portfolios, and benefit from annual increases.
