Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Administers both the GC and Owner safety program requirements.
  • Develops specific onsite programs, as required.
  • Performs site audits for unsafe practices, conditions—make recommendations and/or know specific regulation on proper corrections.
  • Leads/performs accident investigations.
  • Trains personnel.
  • Reports WC claims and performs onsite WC administration for both Hoar Construction and subcontractor injuries.
  • Performs recordkeeping/document control for HAZCOM, training etc. This includes various reports to Owner.
  • Aids in developing/maintaining Hazard Analysis Documentation.
  • Administers First Aid, CPR, AED where necessary.
  • Stays current on safety regulations.
  • Performs other duties and services to ensure a successful project is delivered and client is satisfied.
  • Maintain excellent attendance and punctuality.
  • Promote compliance with the company Health and Safety Program (HSP) and assist the project team with meeting company safety goals.
  • Aid in the implementation of safety related programs to meet or exceed company safety standards.
  • Perform and document jobsite safety inspections with special emphasis on hazard recognition and unsafe behaviors, to prevent incidents and correct unsafe working conditions.
  • Aid in the preparation and delivery of safety meetings to ensure company safety requirements are effectively communicated.
  • Absolutely ensure project safety documentation is maintained and filed in compliance with the Health and Safety Program (HSP).
  • Aid the project team in developing and conducting jobsite safety orientations.

Preferred Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field.
  • 0-3 years of field experience in construction safety plus a 4-year degree in a safety-related discipline OR five (5) years of experience dedicated solely to building construction safety.

Physical Demands and Working Environment

  • Work is performed mainly in an indoor and outdoor setting with exposure to all types of weather and temperature conditions, and travel from site to site.
  • Primary functions require sufficient physical ability and mobility to work in an office setting; to stand or sit for prolonged periods of time; to occasionally stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, reach, and twist; to lift, carry, push, and/or pull light to moderate amounts of weight; make repetitive hand movement and fine coordination in the performance of daily duties; to travel to other locations using various modes of private and commercial transportation; and to verbally communicate to exchange information.
