Construction Quality Manager

About the role

We are seeking a Quality Manager I for our Data Center Group in Goodyear, AZ. This role is responsible for the implementation, improvement, and execution of Quality Management Systems (QMS) and project-specific quality program requirements. You will ensure that design and construction works are planned and executed in accordance with established policies, procedures, systems, and contractual requirements.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the quality champion for a project or multiple projects, overseeing quality management duties including work quality, material management, documentation, and close-out to ensure safe, efficient, and profitable project execution.
• Coach, mentor, and train project staff in quality management principles, procedures, and project-specific requirements. Mentor Quality staff to advance their careers and improve retention.
• Lead and manage quality processes such as work planning, pre-activity meetings, material management, Quality Incident Reports (QIRs), Lesson Sharing, and follow-up inspections.
• Establish, monitor, and report on Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and QIRs for project teams to drive continuous improvement. Analyze trends and provide improvement strategies.
• Conduct routine audits of project quality programs using tools like Project QC Evaluation to identify areas for improvement. Provide feedback to Operations and Quality Management on major QIRs, team relationships, client perceptions, and recurring non-conformances.
• Direct inspection, testing, and documentation of works. Schedule inspections and testing in coordination with operations, consultants, material laboratories, and clients.
• Create and implement project-specific inspection and test plans, quality control plans, and other procedures. Support material specification reviews, including concrete mix design and thermal control.
• Develop risk management strategies to improve project profitability by reducing risk and enhancing efficiency through process management and mitigation.
• Maintain relationships with owners, clients, subcontractors, design partners, and stakeholders to support project partnering and issue resolution.
• Support site safety initiatives to ensure projects are completed in accordance with established safety procedures, requirements, and goals.
• Monitor project quality costs, including resources, to optimize as-bid budgets. Provide feedback to improve billing returns, risk reporting, testing accuracy, and claim protection. Track and report rework costs via the QIR system.

Requirements

• AEC Bachelor’s degree preferred or equivalent related field experience (e.g., International Code Counsel, NICET, etc.).
• Current certification required; USACE/NAVFAC/NRC Construction Quality Management certification preferred but not required.
• Industry certifications for testing and inspection as needed to review and certify compliance with requirements.
• Minimum 7 years of AEC experience, with at least 3 years in a Quality role.
• Strong communication, critical thinking, problem-solving, prioritization, organization, and time management skills.
• Knowledge of standards, specifications, and publications relevant to job duties.
• Level 1 QCM certification.
• Limited travel may be required for projects.
