About the role

This Construction Quality Control- Electrical and Instrumentation Inspector role supports a major remote industrial project in a rotational Arctic environment, focusing on quality, technical oversight, and field-based inspection.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor electrical and instrumentation construction activities and verify work against approved drawings, specifications, standards, and procedures.
  • Conduct field inspections and witness critical inspections and testing activities.
  • Inspect electrical systems including power distribution, cable tray systems, conduit and raceway installations, grounding and bonding systems, lighting systems, and heat tracing systems.
  • Inspect instrumentation and controls installations including process instrumentation, control valves and actuators, junction boxes, instrument tubing systems, DCS, PLC, communication networks, fiber optic systems, and fire and gas detection systems.
  • Witness and review testing including megger testing, cable continuity testing, ground resistance testing, functional testing, loop checks, instrument calibration, fiber optic testing, motor rotation checks, energization activities, cause-and-effect testing, and integrated system testing.
  • Review inspection and test records, track deficiencies and punch-list items, and maintain daily inspection reports and surveillance records.
  • Identify non-conforming work and support NCR investigations, corrective actions, and closure of quality issues.
  • Support pre-commissioning, commissioning, walkdowns, turnover activities, and startup and performance testing.
  • Promote safety, participate in JSAs and toolbox meetings, and stop work when unsafe conditions or quality concerns are identified.

Requirements

  • Associate degree, technical diploma, or equivalent trade qualification in Electrical, Instrumentation, Electronics, or related discipline.
  • 10+ years of electrical and instrumentation construction experience.
  • 5+ years in QA/QC inspection roles on major industrial, oil and gas, refinery, or petrochemical projects.
  • Experience with owner, EPC, or EPCM project organizations preferred.
  • Previous Alaska North Slope or Arctic experience preferred.
  • Ability to interpret electrical one-line diagrams, wiring diagrams, loop drawings, instrument index documents, P&IDs, control narratives, and vendor drawings.
  • Strong knowledge of NEC/NFPA requirements, IEEE standards, ISA standards, NEMA standards, API standards, and IEC standards.
