Construction Quality Assurance Inspector - Night Shift - Tampa, FL
About the role
The Construction Quality Assurance Inspector is responsible for ensuring that construction projects meet established standards, specifications, and safety regulations. This role involves monitoring daily site activities, inspecting materials and workmanship, and verifying that all work aligns with project plans and industry codes.
Responsibilities
- Monitor daily site activities
- Inspect materials and workmanship
- Verify alignment with project plans and industry codes
- Identify deficiencies and document findings
- Coordinate with contractors and engineers
- Provide daily reports of work progress
- Assist with quality construction, effective planning & scheduling, cost management, and collaboration with project stakeholders
- Plan/track project activity
- Maintain project schedules
- Review pay applications
- Monitor construction safety
- Notify HCAA HSE of any observed unsafe practices or conditions
- Review look ahead schedules with Contractors staff, PM, and others
- Brief HCAA PM on upcoming work activities, testing/inspection requirements, equipment needs, coordination requirements, etc.
- Stay familiar with ongoing coordination efforts between projects in the vicinity, as well as tasks within the project limits as work areas shift and progress
- Notify HCAA PM of any observed out of sequence activities, issues of concern, quality issues, etc.
- Stay familiar with Airport Operations, necessary security protocols, and Airport notification processes (i.e. SIRs, MCNs, NOTAMs, etc.)
- Assist PM as needed in these areas with particular attention to upcoming work efforts that require notifications
- Maintain a photo diary of work in progress and issues of concern that are observed
- Provide copies to HCAA PM and/or Project Files on a weekly basis
- Be available to work extended hours and weekends, as needed, with appropriate notification as work progresses and work schedules dictate
- Communicate openly and honestly with HCAA Staff and others as required, both orally and written, depending on the situation at hand
- Work closely with PM on dissemination of information
- Participate in necessary meetings with Contractor and HCAA staff as needed including OAC meetings, Safety Meetings, QA/QC Meetings, Activity Meetings, Follow Up Inspections, etc.
Requirements
- Education: Degree in civil engineering or construction management
- Experience: 6 years of commercial and/or aviation construction experience
- Working on several capital improvement projects
- Working on non-traditional hours (nights only)
- Advanced training in construction management
- Able to assist with the coordination of field operations
- Responsible for providing daily reports of work progress
- Able to assist with quality construction, effective planning & scheduling, cost management, and collaboration with project stakeholders

Qualifications
- Experience of working at an International Airport is a plus
