Construction Project Manager (External)
About the role
MCFA Global has been engaged by one of our clients to identify a high-performing Construction Project Manager to support their growing field operations and project delivery. This is an external role with our partner firm and mcfa is leading the search to find the best candidate for this opportunity.
Responsibilities
- Lead all phases of project management, including planning, budgeting, scheduling, procurement, and execution
- Review bids, perform re-bids, and identify cost-saving or value engineering opportunities
- Develop and manage project budgets, cost codes, and financial forecasts
- Plan construction operations and coordinate manpower, materials, and equipment
- Manage subcontractor bidding, selection, contracts, and performance
- Maintain accurate project documentation, including change orders and billing
- Conduct regular job site visits to monitor safety, progress, quality, and schedule adherence
- Build and maintain strong client relationships and proactively resolve issues
- Track project profitability and forecast gross margin performance
- Lead project kickoff, mobilization, and closeout activities
- Participate in project debriefs and continuous improvement efforts
Requirements
Experienced project manager with at least 5 years in commercial construction or carpentry
A strong leader who can motivate teams and drive performance in the field
Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
Financially savvy, with experience managing budgets and tracking project profitability
A proactive problem-solver who can resolve challenges and maintain strong client relationships
An effective communicator across field teams, subcontractors, and leadership
Comfortable working with construction software and Microsoft Office tools
Preferred
- Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or related field
- 10+ years of project management experience
- Hands-on field experience in commercial carpentry
- PMP or equivalent certification
- Experience with Procore, Microsoft Project, Smartsheet, QuickBid, or similar tools
- Prior military service
Work Environment
This role splits time between the office and active construction sites. Candidates should be comfortable working outdoors and in varying conditions, including exposure to weather, noise, and active job site environments.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to walk job sites regularly and conduct inspections
- Occasional lifting (up to 50 lbs)
- Frequent standing, walking, driving, and communication
