Construction Project Estimator - Drywall
About the role
The Project Estimator is a full-time, on-site role based in Walker, LA 70785. This role is responsible for preparing detailed cost estimates for drywall projects by reviewing plans, specifications, and job requirements. Day-to-day tasks include performing quantity takeoffs, analyzing labor and material costs, and developing clear, accurate proposals for clients and internal project teams. The Project Estimator will collaborate with project managers, field supervisors, and suppliers to refine estimates, track budget changes, and support decision-making throughout the project lifecycle. Additional responsibilities include maintaining estimate records, updating pricing databases, and participating in bid reviews to ensure competitiveness and profitability.
Responsibilities
- Prepare detailed cost estimates for drywall projects by reviewing plans, specifications, and job requirements
- Perform quantity takeoffs and analyze labor and material costs
- Develop clear, accurate proposals for clients and internal project teams
- Collaborate with project managers, field supervisors, and suppliers to refine estimates
- Track budget changes and support decision-making throughout the project lifecycle
- Maintain estimate records and update pricing databases
- Participate in bid reviews to ensure competitiveness and profitability
Qualifications
- Strong project estimation skills, including Construction Estimating and Project Estimation for residential and commercial work — minimum 5 years
- Solid financial and planning abilities, including Cost Management and Budgeting
- Effective Communication skills to interact with clients, vendors, and internal teams
- Proficiency with estimating software, spreadsheets, and basic project management tools
- Knowledge of drywall construction methods, materials, and industry standards
- Attention to detail, analytical thinking, and ability to interpret blueprints and specifications
- Prior experience in construction estimating or a related field; drywall trade experience is preferred
- High school diploma or equivalent required; additional technical or construction-related education is beneficial
