Responsibilities

  • Conduct field or laboratory testing, sampling, and/or inspection services.
  • Communicate with dispatcher/coordinator to ensure priorities and deadlines are met in both the field and laboratory.
  • Meet with supervisors of contractors, engineer/architect representatives, and/or other project leads on project sites to discuss and coordinate testing, sampling, or inspection of construction materials or construction procedures.
  • Ensure safe utilization, storage, and maintenance of all nuclear gauges and field equipment.
  • Communicate project progress and delays to supervisor and dispatcher.
  • Submit accurate and complete testing/inspection reports on a daily basis.
  • Drive company vehicles to job sites in a safe manner.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED certification and at least one year of applicable experience in the materials testing and inspection industry.
  • Possess one or more certifications, such as ACI Field, ACI Concrete Strength, ACI Aggregates, TxDOT SB101, SB102, SB103, SB201, SB202, 1A or 1B, or other relevant certifications.
  • Possess a valid driver’s license within the applicable jurisdiction and meet firm’s auto insurability requirements.
  • Able to travel to project sites and maneuver over rough and uneven terrain.

Lab Technician II

  • At least 1 year of applicable experience in the materials testing and inspection industry and possess at least 3 or more industry certifications.

Lab Technician III

  • At least 3 years of applicable experience in the materials testing and inspection industry and possess 5 or more industry certifications.

Skills

  • Possess Troxler Manufacturing or equal radiation safety course to utilize nuclear gauges.
  • Possess Technician Training and Certification Program (TTCP) from the Texas State Highway and Transportation Department, or ability to complete within 6 months of employment.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to read and understand instructions, labels, reports, etc.
  • Good oral and written communication skills including the ability to write short correspondences, notes, letters, and memos.
  • Safety-minded and willing to put safety first in performing all duties.
