About the role

The Construction Manager III will oversee the construction of assigned homes with regular supervision from the Area Construction Manager. This role includes daily coordination of all on-site construction activities, supervising field personnel, and ensuring homes are completed on schedule and within budget while maintaining the highest quality, construction practices, and safety standards. From plan review through final walk-through, the Construction Manager III serves as the customer’s primary point of contact, delivering on the company’s mission throughout the construction process.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and oversee all construction activities to achieve 100% completion on schedule, within budget, and in conformance to plans, specifications, and standards.
  • Effectively and accurately communicate relevant information to the customer on a weekly basis.
  • Maintain an effective construction schedule while identifying and solving problems before they affect the critical path to on-time delivery.
  • Keep the Area Construction Manager and appropriate parties informed about production status and issues that may impact delivery of the mission; prepare for weekly backlog meetings and neighborhood meetings with the sales team.
  • Manage all eight customer meetings as outlined in the HBWB Process Manual.
  • Maintain an organized job site, including the construction office.
  • Enforce company safety policy with trade partners and company employees.
  • Effectively manage communication between Sales, Closing Coordinators, Design Studio, and Purchasing as needed.
  • Command respect from customers and vendors through consistent delivery of commitments and expectations.
  • Exhibit tact, consideration, and patience in difficult situations.
  • Interact and communicate clearly with coworkers, clients, and vendors in a courteous, friendly manner.
  • Approach sudden, unexpected challenges effectively with confidence.
  • Appropriately and accurately order required materials.
  • Direct all trades to achieve completion of scheduled tasks on time and in conformance with plans, specifications, and scopes of work.
  • Understand inspection requirements and preparation of homes for inspection.

Requirements

  • Able to consistently carry at least 10-14 homes at a high level of complex build.
  • Consistently deliver assigned homes 100% on time and on budget.
  • Valid Driver’s License.
  • Working knowledge and experience with production homebuilding scheduling.
  • Ability to fluently read and interpret construction plans and scopes of work.
  • Experience with stem wall construction and related site preparation requirements.
  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • 4-year college degree in Business, Engineering, or Construction Management preferred.

Additional Requirements

  • This is an on-site position based in Tampa Bay, FL and may require relocation if you are not currently located in the area. While the role is primarily in-person, there may be limited access to remote work at the discretion of management and based on business needs.
  • This is an exempt role, which may require working more than eight hours per day.
  • Authorization to work in the U.S. without employer sponsorship is a precondition of employment.
