About the role

Turner & Townsend are seeking an experienced Construction Manager to work on large-scale construction projects. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter with excellent communication skills, able to take initiative and drive activities with limited supervision.

Responsibilities

  • Interface with the client and other consultants at all project stages.
  • Financial management: ensure prompt client invoicing and monitor a project’s financial status using the financial system.
  • Project planning, including producing a detailed project plan.
  • Monitor and apply performance management techniques.
  • Manage the change control process.
  • Oversee the flow of project information between the team and the client through regular meetings and written communications.
  • Prepare formal project budget progress and other reports.
  • Ensure compliance with quality standards (Quality Control).
  • Work on constructing proposals for new work or variations for existing projects.
  • Identify opportunities to improve Project Management procedures, templates, and products, referring ideas to the appropriate line manager.
  • Identify and escalate quality, safety, health, and environment issues to the appropriate line manager.
  • Establish effective project governance, processes, and systems for project use.
  • Discharge general line management responsibilities where appropriate.
  • Provide strategic advice during the project conception stage, including different approaches to achieve the client’s objectives.
  • Manage time effectively to ensure the project is completed efficiently and on schedule.
  • Build strong working relationships with clients and cross-functional team members.
  • Work effectively as a team member within the context of delivering a specific commission.
  • Identify business development opportunities with existing and new clients, including cross-selling.
  • Share and retain key information and data effectively.
  • Adhere to SOX control responsibilities where applicable.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Demonstrated experience working as a Project Manager within the construction industry on commercial ground-up real estate projects.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to be highly effective in a client-facing role.
  • Experience managing demanding stakeholders and workstream managers.
