Southwest Minnesota Housing Partnership (SWMHP) is a nonprofit Community Housing Development Corporation dedicated to creating places for people to call home. Since 1992, SWMHP has developed, financed, and rehabilitated thousands of housing units while partnering with communities throughout southwest and south central Minnesota. Our work focuses on expanding access to quality, affordable housing through housing development, preservation, homeownership support, community engagement, and technical assistance. Position Overview

SWMHP is seeking a Construction Manager to provide planning, technical support, and project management for single-family, multifamily, and commercial development and rehabilitation activities. This position plays a key role in overseeing construction projects from planning and pre-development through completion, ensuring projects are completed with quality, efficiency, and alignment with project goals. The Construction Manager works closely with contractors, architects, engineers, community partners, and SWMHP staff to coordinate successful project delivery.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage construction and rehabilitation projects from planning through completion
  • Coordinate with contractors, architects, engineers, and community partners
  • Review project plans, specifications, budgets, and construction documents
  • Develop project schedules, cost estimates, and construction plans
  • Maintain project progress, budgets, timelines, and quality standards
  • Conduct site visits, inspections, and progress meetings
  • Support housing development projects that create quality, affordable homes
  • Provide technical assistance to communities and project partners

Qualifications

  • The ideal candidate is a construction professional who brings strong project management skills, technical knowledge, and a commitment to community-focused work.
  • An associate or bachelor’s degree in construction management or a related field, or equivalent related experience is preferred.
  • Seven years of related construction experience are preferred.
  • Knowledge of construction practices, estimating, and project management is required.
  • Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills are essential.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities independently is necessary.
  • Experience working collaboratively with contractors, partners, and community stakeholders is desirable.
