About the role

This role provides leadership for construction execution and capital delivery across a diverse portfolio, including new-to-industry sites, acquisition retrofits, raze and rebuild projects, remodels, heavy maintenance, and emergency capital work from concept through turnover. The position carries full accountability for execution excellence, schedule performance, cost discipline, reporting rigor, and construction quality, while aligning internal clients and external delivery partners across design, permitting, construction, and opening. The role also supports strategic growth through site evaluation, capital planning, maintenance coordination, and operational readiness, with particular emphasis on retail fuel and UST environments, field execution, and transparent escalation of delivery risks to leadership.

Responsibilities

  • Leads construction delivery across a multi-site portfolio, directing internal project advisors, third-party project managers, contractors, architects, engineers, and consultants to deliver safe, timely, and cost-effective outcomes.
  • Owns end-to-end delivery from project kickoff through turnover, including scope alignment, schedule management, key metric reporting, open-date readiness, punch-list resolution, and financial closeout.
  • Provides disciplined stewardship of capital and expense budgets, payments, change orders, cost forecasting, and budget performance while ensuring adherence to financial controls and governance standards.
  • Aligns decisions and information flow across Real Estate, Design, Operations, IT, Hospitality, Finance, Facilities Services, HSSE, Legal, and related partners to accelerate approvals, resolve issues, and sustain delivery momentum.
  • Leads response to emergency capital repairs and major field issues, mobilizing resources quickly while protecting safety, quality, schedule, and cost performance.
  • Directs project kickoffs, site visits, review meetings, and turnover activities to reinforce construction quality and ensure timely punch-list completion.
  • Supports strategic growth through site surveys, cost estimating, capital planning, and due diligence for new builds, acquisitions, refreshes, and other investment opportunities.
  • Maintains disciplined project documentation, reporting cadence, and file integrity while providing senior leadership with clear insight into critical risks, delivery impacts, and cost exposure.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred in Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture, Business, or a related field.
  • Minimum 10 years of relevant experience in construction, capital delivery, or multi-site retail development, with demonstrated leadership in project execution, contractor management, and cross-functional alignment.
  • Deep expertise in construction operations, budget stewardship, schedule management, change control, and project reporting across complex, field-based programs.
  • Experience in retail fuel, UST systems, petroleum, convenience retail, or other highly regulated construction environments is strongly preferred.
  • Executive-level communication and influencing skills, with the ability to engage leadership, business partners, contractors, consultants, and field teams in fast-paced environments with shifting priorities.
  • Strong operating rigor and sound organizational judgment, with the ability to balance competing priorities, navigate ambiguity, and sustain execution across a complex portfolio.

Preferred Credentials

  • Industry certifications, including OSHA and petroleum- or construction-related credentials such as API, are advantageous.
