About the role

This internship is open to undergraduate students interested in gaining hands-on practical experience in the construction field. Qualified applicants will assist project teams in managing construction projects, including all phases from bidding to final completion. Assignments may include both office and job site work; relocation to remote sites may be required. Transportation is required. The work period is 10–12 weeks, with 40 hours per week. Housing may be provided in certain situations.

Reporting Relationship

Depending on the work assignment, interns will report to a project manager, superintendent, project engineer, or field engineer. You may be assigned to the office, jobsite, or a mix of both.

Responsibilities

  • Learn the engineering and technical aspects of the project both in the field and in the office
  • Quantity take-off
  • Layout
  • Preconstruction/as-built surveys
  • Shop drawing review/approval and maintenance of log
  • Submittal review/approval and maintenance of log
  • Request for information (RFI) review/submission and maintenance of log
  • Responding to subcontractor RFIs
  • Interfacing with subcontractors and suppliers
  • Attending weekly progress meetings
  • Assisting with coordinating the work between the owner, architect, and subcontractors
  • Assisting during the bid process
  • Assisting with reviewing construction documents and specifications
  • Assisting with reviewing all document revisions and clarifications
  • Assisting with maintaining field records
  • Assisting with estimates, budgets, value engineering, and constructability surveys
  • Assisting with writing contracts and purchase orders
  • Assisting with preparing billings to owner and submitting change orders
  • Assisting with approval of invoices
  • Assisting with ordering and expediting materials
  • Assisting with scheduling and updates
  • Assisting with quality control and safety
  • Assisting with settling contracts
  • Assisting with the permit process
  • Assisting with performing costing, scheduling, estimating, and project management
  • Punchlist and project closeout
  • Cooperating and working with field project management
  • Any other duties that may be assigned

Schedule

10–12 weeks, 40 hours per week (Summer 2026).
