Essential Functions
- Leads and coordinates daily work activities of assigned crew or co-workers
- Confers with supervisor to obtain direction regarding work assignments and priorities
- Organizes tasks in order to complete assigned work
- Maintains status of work in progress and inspects completed work
- Convenes with co-workers, assists with complex/problem situations, and provides technical expertise
- Assists with training and instructing co-workers regarding operational procedures and proper use of equipment
- Affords supervision of co-workers by reporting employee problems and providing input on disciplinary action and employee performance evaluations
Functions Conducted
- Conducts inspections and project oversight for a broad range of construction and maintenance projects
- Coordinates and oversees contractors engaged in construction projects on behalf of the County
- Schedules and coordinates inspections and meetings with County departments and other state and federal agencies
- Anticipates, prioritizes, and times inspections to minimize interference with project progress
- Provides guidance in unique construction situations
- Negotiates and resolves discrepancies with contractors
- Collaborates with superintendents, work crews, utility companies, EPA, GDOT, Corps of Engineers, and other agencies to coordinate work
Qualifications
- Associate degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field required
- Five years of experience in construction inspection, construction project management, civil engineering, or public works construction to include lead or supervisory experience
- Must possess and maintain a valid Georgia driver’s license
- Select positions require Water and Wastewater Systems Operator Licenses
- Select positions require Class A CDL
- Select positions require Georgia Soil and Erosion Level 1B certification
