About the role
Michael Baker International is seeking a Construction Inspector I to join the construction services team in Columbia. The role involves inspecting infrastructure projects across South Carolina, including water/wastewater systems, roadways, and other civil works.
Responsibilities
- Monitor contractor methods and workmanship to ensure compliance with quality standards, plans, and specifications.
- Maintain accurate project documentation, including Daily Work Reports, material records, pay items, pressure test results, progress photos, and other required information.
- Communicate effectively with project teams and coordinate activities.
- Conduct sampling and materials testing for concrete, earthwork, and asphalt as needed.
- Complete and maintain industry-related training and certifications.
- Actively contribute to department initiatives and participate in company meetings.
Requirements
- A High School Diploma or GED.
- 1+ years of construction or inspection experience.
- Willingness to travel, work varied shifts/weekends, and in all weather conditions.
- Valid driver’s license; ability to pass background check.
