Construction Inspector/ Engineering Technician

About the role

This is a full-time, on-site role based in Pensacola, FL. The Construction Inspector/Engineering Technician is responsible for inspecting construction work to confirm compliance with plans, specifications, building codes, and safety standards, and for documenting findings through field reports, photographs, and measurements. Day-to-day tasks include observing construction activities, verifying materials and workmanship, performing basic engineering and quality control tests, and reporting any non-conforming work to project managers or engineers. The role also involves coordinating with contractors, design professionals, and client representatives, attending site meetings, and assisting with progress evaluations and punch lists. The Construction Inspector/Engineering Technician uses standard inspection tools, software, and documentation procedures to support successful, timely, and compliant project delivery.

Responsibilities

• Inspect construction work to confirm compliance with plans, specifications, building codes, and safety standards.
• Document findings through field reports, photographs, and measurements.
• Observe construction activities and verify materials and workmanship.
• Perform basic engineering and quality control tests.

Qualifications

• Strong construction inspection and field engineering skills, including reading and interpreting drawings, specifications, and codes.
• Skills in documentation and reporting, including accurate note-taking, report writing, and use of basic office and inspection software.
• Quality assurance and control skills, such as performing basic tests, verifying materials, and monitoring compliance with safety and regulatory requirements.
• Interpersonal and communication skills to collaborate effectively with contractors, engineers, and client representatives on-site.
• Relevant experience in construction inspection, civil/structural engineering technology, or related fields; prior work on public or infrastructure projects is beneficial.
• Associate degree or technical certification in construction technology, engineering technology, or a related discipline is preferred; equivalent experience will be considered.
• Ability to work on active construction sites, including standing, walking, climbing, and working outdoors in varying weather conditions, in accordance with safety policies.
• Valid driver’s license and eligibility to work in the United States; experience working with government or large commercial clients is a plus.
