Construction Inspector

About the role

Stantec's Construction Support Services (CSS) Program is expanding its presence in Kentucky, Indiana, Ohio, Tennessee, and Georgia, serving multiple top-tier clients. As part of this initiative, Stantec is seeking a full-time Construction Field Inspector for its Water Business Line.

Responsibilities

• Serve as Stantec’s on-site site safety representative, maintaining a safe working environment through safety briefings, observations, and walkdowns.
• Act as the liaison between the engineer and the contractor, interacting with various stakeholders including clients and contractors.
• Oversee and/or perform required testing (such as concrete, soils, geosynthetics, etc.), documenting findings in accordance with project documents.
• Track construction progress, address issues, and communicate with the design team and client.
• Maintain detailed documentation and report discrepancies and deviations from requirements.
• Attend project meetings and communicate with the design team and client regarding construction quality oversight.
• Monitor adherence to contract and design documents, ensuring compliance with project specifications.

Requirements

• Understanding of HSSE policies and procedures, including client-specific training.
• Experience with field construction activities and construction quality management.
• Experience with construction materials laboratory testing is a plus.
• Certifications related to the position: ACI Level 1 Field Concrete Technician, NICET Level III/IV Soils, Geosynthetics Certification Institute’s Inspector Certification Program (GCI-ICP).
• Previous construction experience in heavy earthwork, cast-in-place/concrete structures, geosynthetic liner systems, fusion welded HDPE pipe, pump stations, force mains, asphalt/concrete pavement, below-grade utility piping, and below-grade utility piping (water, storm sewer, sanitary, leachate, etc.).
• Proficiency with desktop office software applications and familiarity with codes and design requirements.
• Valid driver’s license and good driving record.
• Pre-employment drug screen and background check.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Secondary education in a related field is a plus.
• Minimum 5 years related experience preferred.
