Construction Inspections Specialist - Mechanical
About the role
Serves as the lead mechanical inspector for targeted industry projects as assigned by the Construction Inspections Supervisor
Promotes partnership between staff and customers through effective, efficient development processes to ensure compliance with all regulations
Performs trade-specific inspections
Researches and monitors targeted industry projects
Establishes and nurtures effective working relationships
Captures and documents meeting minutes
Attends weekly meetings and provides creative input as a multi-disciplinary team member
Effective oral and written communication
Performs data entry using the County’s computer-based programs for documenting the project life cycle
Afford assistance to the Construction Inspections Supervisor with the development and presentation of in-house training curriculum
Serve as a member of Department/Division Process Action Teams

Requirements
- High school diploma or G.E.D.
- 3 years of related experience
Qualifications
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Working knowledge of local and state construction codes
- Valid Driver’s License - must pass a DMV records check
- Pre-Employment Physical
- Virginia Department of Housing and Community Development certification as a Technical Assistant to the Building Official for Residential and Commercial Mechanical Inspections within 18 months of employment
- Virginia Residential Combination Inspector certification within 3 years of employment
Skills
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills
- Experience reading and interpreting commercial construction plans/documents
- Experience working within a team environment
- Experience working with various codes and software programs
- Experience performing Quality Assurance Inspections
- Experience with fire-resistance rated construction

Pay
$35.00-$43.00 per hour ($68,250 -$83,850 annually)
Schedule
This position works a standard Monday-Friday schedule, working 37.5 hours per week
