Construction HVAC Startup Technician

About the Role

Interstate Mechanical LLC (IMCOR) seeks a Construction HVAC Startup Technician to perform start-up, functionality checks, and warranty repairs on newly installed HVAC and plumbing equipment. This role involves interfacing with customers, clients, internal managers, and vendors while working under limited supervision and making decisions based on expertise and coordination with management.

Responsibilities

• Follow the direction of the Start-up Manager and collaborate with start-up and QAQC crews on job sites.
• Perform start-up, diagnose, and repair warranty items on HVAC and plumbing units.
• Read, understand, and communicate construction documents (e.g., M, P, FA, E drawings, scopes of work, schedules, specifications, safety manuals).
• Embrace and enforce a safety culture for project teams, ensuring adherence to company policies, standards, and procedures.
• Conduct self-QC on completed work and communicate issues to the Start-up Manager regarding crew, materials, or site-related concerns.
• Follow and enforce all safety and operational rules required by IMCOR and the general contractor (GC).
• Resolve problems independently, adapt to changing situations, and maintain strong attention to detail regarding IOM installation and manufacturer standards.
• Train on-the-job (OJT) team members and share knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems.
• Demonstrate proficiency in electronic reporting using iPad and Procore, and work cooperatively with other trades in a team environment.
• Maintain a 90% or higher Samsara driving score.

Requirements

• 3–10+ years of experience in the HVAC field.
• HVAC Trade School Certification or related field qualification.
• Clear driving record and willingness to travel to job sites in IMCOR’s service areas, including nights, weekends, and out-of-town assignments.
• Own basic hand tools.
• Ability to work overtime as required.
• Strong organizational, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
• Knowledge of diagnostic instruments and meters.
• Professional appearance and presence, with a solution- and team-driven mindset.
