Construction Health and Safety Manager

We are seeking a Construction HSE Manager for our Southern California projects based in Travis, California. Travel by car to other locations is required.

The HSE Manager assists with inspections, accident investigations, conducts safety meetings, and implements health, safety, and environmental (EHS) processes. You will compile and maintain records, logs, and reports required by contractors, clients, and regulatory bodies (Federal, State, and Local).

Responsibilities

• Work directly with the Project Manager and management team to develop and implement an effective site-specific EHS plan, adhering to corporate, divisional, and regional EHS programs.
• Assist Project Managers and EHS Managers/Specialists in coordinating subcontractor EHS protocols, including vendors and owner personnel.
• Plan and coordinate work to eliminate hazards, minimize risks, and manage losses involving injuries or property damage.
• Conduct quarterly comprehensive on-site EHS audits and periodic inspections for compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, as well as company and owner policies.
• Perform accident investigations and complete incident reporting for Project Management review.
• Accompany injured employees to treatment and medical evaluation, ensuring all EHS protocols are followed.
• Advise Project Management on Industrial Hygiene protocols and perform Environmental Monitoring.
• Manage the Company’s Drug-Free Workplace Policy, including testing for Pre-Employment, Vehicle Authorization, Reasonable Suspicion, Post-Accident, Random, and Follow-Up.
• Provide training and education to Company personnel regarding EHS requirements, including new hire orientation programs.
• Administer the corporate SPAT process on assigned projects.
• Complete and provide a weekly EHS update to EHS Leadership.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Civil Engineering, or Construction Management (or equivalent).
• CHST (Construction Health & Safety Technician) Certification.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in the construction EHS field.
• Excellent communication, critical thinking, and problem-solving abilities.
• Strong organizational and time-management skills.
• Knowledge of regulations, hazard recognition, and injury management.
• Some travel required.
• Ability to stand, sit, walk, and/or climb stairs or ladders.

Pay

$110,000–$140,000 per year, depending on experience.
