Construction Estimator

Duties

• Develop detailed cost estimates for commercial construction projects by analyzing blueprints, specifications, and project requirements using industry-standard tools such as HeavyBid and Bluebeam.
• Prepare accurate pricing proposals by sourcing materials, labor, equipment, and subcontractor quotes while considering current market conditions.
• Collaborate with project managers, clients, and subcontractors through effective negotiation to secure favorable terms and optimize project budgets.
• Conduct thorough quantity take-offs and cost control analyses to ensure estimates align with project goals and financial targets.
• Review construction contracts, scope of work, and project schedules to identify potential risks or cost-saving opportunities early in the process.
• Assist in bid submission processes, ensuring all documentation is complete, accurate, and submitted on time.
• Support project management teams during construction by providing ongoing cost updates, change order evaluations, and budget adjustments as needed.
• Leverage construction site experience to better understand logistical challenges and incorporate practical insights into estimates.
• Utilize construction management software to track costs, manage documentation, and streamline estimating workflows.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in construction estimating within commercial projects; familiarity with Bluebeam, HeavyBid, and other estimating software is highly desirable.
• Strong knowledge of construction estimating principles including cost control, pricing strategies, and contract review.
• Excellent negotiation skills to secure competitive pricing while maintaining quality standards.
• Demonstrated understanding of construction site operations and management practices.
• Ability to interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications accurately.
• Experience with contracts management and project management processes in a construction environment.
• Effective communication skills to collaborate with clients, subcontractors, suppliers, and internal teams.
• Construction site experience that provides practical insights into project execution challenges is a plus.
