About the role
Ironmark Building Co. is seeking a Commercial Construction Estimator to join our team in the Phoenix area. We are a leading commercial general contractor based in Minneapolis, specializing in multi-family, mixed-use, and hospitality projects. Our team is dedicated to delivering high-quality projects and fostering strong relationships with our clients and subcontractors.
Responsibilities
- Calculate accurate labor, equipment, and material costs for commercial construction projects and remodels
- Review drawings and specifications to determine quantities and calculate pricing
- Cook up bid invitations, review incoming bids for scope and pricing, schedule site visits with subcontractors, acquire best pricing from subcontractors and suppliers, and develop bid presentations
- Communicate with low bidder for final overview and ensure completeness of bid
- Develop and maintain positive communication with subcontractors and suppliers, including researching and qualifying new subcontractors and suppliers, and maintaining lists of preferred subcontractors and suppliers to present to clients
- Participate in pre-bid meetings, as necessary
- Prepare project documents, material release schedules, client information, project schedules, and other documentation to keep the Project Managers informed
- Present to Owners and Architects as needed
Requirements
- 2+ years of related estimating experience working on commercial construction projects, both public and private bidding
- Passion for commercial construction
- Knowledgeable in wood frame construction
- Able to read, analyze, and interpret plans and specifications relative to the scope of work and schedule specified for each project within bid time frame
- Able to read plans and perform material takeoffs and estimates
- Able to meet bid deadlines
- Proficient in Excel and On-screen take-off or comparable software
- Able to communicate with other professional contractors
- A degree and/or certification in Estimating, Construction Management, and/or Architecture is strongly preferred
