Construction Estimator

Job Summary

The Construction Estimator will work for an in-house commercial general contracting division of a growing real estate development firm located in Augusta, GA which specializes in redeveloping commercial and retail properties. The Construction Estimator will review plans, perform takeoffs and create detailed estimates of such scope. The estimate serves a critical role in defining the scope of work for the project management team and controlling construction costs.

Roles & Responsibilities

• Gather and organize all available information related to the project.
• Explore information to identify missing or conflicting scope/detail related to successful constructability of the project.
• Aid with construction document/plan/spec review, redlining and value engineering.
• Perform digital takeoffs using On-Screen Takeoff (OST) or similar that highlight the scope of work.
• Create and input data into spreadsheets and good understanding of data analysis.
• Understand and learn/interpret construction drawings, specifications, and renderings.
• Communicate effectively.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in construction, engineering, business management/finance/accounting or similar fields is preferred but not required based on level of experience and aptitude.
• 1+ years of commercial construction experience across multiple trades is preferred.
• Computer skills and demonstrable competency with software using Microsoft Windows 10 with preferred experience in using Microsoft Office Suite, On-Screen Takeoff, Sage Timberline Estimating, etc.
• Ability to create and input data into spreadsheets and good understanding of data analysis.
• Ability to understand and learn/interpret construction drawings, specifications, and renderings.
• Critical thinker and problem solver.
• Ability to communicate effectively.

Workplace Environment

Onsite. Remote work is not available. Minimal out of town travel and/or site visits may be required.
