Responsibilities
- Consult with a broad range of personnel and consultants to coordinate and establish a detailed cost estimate.
- Aid in preparation of cost estimates including but not limited to: labor, materials, equipment costs.
- Exercise good judgment and experience in working with purchasing, labor, equipment, and transportation costs to arrive at a full cost estimate with appropriate profit margins to achieve the Company’s goals.
- Participate in developing of cost evaluations relating to design and documents, contract drawings, specifications, or contract changes.
- Read and understand job bid instructions and detailed specifications.
- Research documents for job details.
- Prepare material takeoffs from construction project design drawings to assist in the creation of complete project material lists that include everything needed for the installation phase of the projects.
- Maintain continuity among project managers by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs.
- Ensure project documents are complete, current, and stored properly.
- Support activities led by Senior Estimator to improve labor and material estimates.
- Prepare and maintain estimating schedule and other deadlines.
- Attend pre-bid job walks to better understand scope of work.
- Occasionally this requires a day trip (less than 4 hours) to the project location. Mileage and/or gas compensation is provided.

- Attend post-construction meetings on each job to provide feedback to the team and the estimating staff.
Requirements
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret construction drawings.
- Effective multi-tasker.
- Self-motivated.
- Strong communication skills.
- Must have great accuracy and attention to detail.
- Strong computer skills: including Microsoft Office (especially Excel) and network/cloud storage locations.
- Ability to use manual scale ruler and online takeoff tools for plan takeoffs.
- Work with database application forms to enter bid details and print proposals.
- A satisfactory combination of education and experience.
- 2+ year degree in a relevant field preferred.
- Some experience in the construction industry or field preferred.
- Reliable transportation and a drivers license are required.
