Construction Estimator

SUMMARY

The Estimator plays a critical role within BlueTeam’s Construction Division by developing accurate, competitive, and defendable RSMeans-based cost estimates for renovation and envelope projects ranging from $50,000 to $5,000,000. This position bridges the gap between opportunity identification and project execution, turning conceptual ideas into actionable, profitable proposals.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Expert proficiency in RSMeans software, Microsoft Excel, and related takeoff tools.
• Strong understanding of conceptual estimating and matrix-based scope modeling.
• Demonstrated ability to create accurate, competitive, and profitable estimates with limited documentation.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills; able to express complex pricing logic clearly.
• Highly organized, disciplined, and self-driven with the ability to manage multiple deadlines.
• Excellent analytical and judgment skills with a balance of speed and precision.
• Strong collaboration skills and ability to integrate with multi-disciplinary project teams.
• Familiarity with cost databases, estimating software integrations, and automation tools (Excel Power Query, Bluebeam, ProEst, CostWorks) preferred.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

• Bachelor’s degree in construction management, Engineering, or related field preferred; equivalent experience accepted.
• Minimum of 5 years of proven success in commercial construction estimating using RS Means Cost Data.
• Experience with finishes, envelope, and light MEP scopes preferred.
• RS Means training or certification highly valued.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete and abstract variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
