Construction Equipment Operator

Duties

  • Operate heavy equipment such as trucks, tractors, bulldozers, loaders, etc.
  • Operate light equipment such as power mowers, chain saws, drills, power saws, etc.
  • Perform a variety of tasks utilizing power and manual hand tools, including but not limited to saws, hammers, drills, sanders, and stationary power tools.
  • Possess the ability to perform a variety of construction trades, including but not limited to masonry, carpentry, and electrical.

Qualifications

  • One year of experience in the operation of equipment and the possession of a valid driver’s license appropriate for the type of vehicle operated.

Additional Information

  • This is a seasonal, hourly appointment with an anticipated end date of 11/18/2026; program needs and funding will determine the actual termination date.
  • Transportation needs require use of a state vehicle and adherence to the Department’s Vehicle Policy.
  • Must maintain a valid driver’s license for this position.
  • Must be able to negotiate difficult terrain, work in remote areas, and operate in adverse weather conditions.
  • Travel may be required; overtime, overnight travel, weekends, and holidays may be required.
  • Must be available for emergency response, including after‑hours emergencies.
  • Must be able to lift and move objects up to 80 pounds.
