Job Description The Iowa Department of Transportation is an engineering student who wants to gain hands-on experience in the world of construction! Duties Assist with transportation construction projects by reviewing construction plans and specificationsEvaluate field conditionsPerform materials testing to verify compliance with project requirementsSupport construction inspection and documentationMonitor contractor activitiesGain experience with contract administration, construction procedures, and quality assurance practicesCollaborate with engineers, inspectors, and contractors to help ensure projects are completed in accordance with plans, applicable standards, specifications, and safety requirements Minimum Qualification Requirements Requirements: Completion of at least two years in civil, construction, materials, or transportation engineering, or in an engineering management curriculum at an accredited four-year college or university with eligibility for junior status upon return to school.
