About the role

Performs a wide variety of planning, project management, and construction, and operations activities including emergency restoration duties. Project areas may include grid/system design, operations and maintenance, planning, asset management, reliability, computer applications, safety, and root cause failure analysis.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate various Distribution, Substation, and Transmission Line Construction projects in different areas of Entergy.
  • Prepare construction contracts, construction schedules, cost tracking, progress reporting and project team coordination within a strong matrix organization to facilitate safe construction of facilities from 13.8kV to 500kV for both internal and external customers.
  • Provide engineering field technical support to substation and distribution and transmission line construction crews.
  • Perform technical reviews of Substation (Electrical and Relay Controls) and D-Line and T-Line design packages issued for construction.
  • Participate in planning, scoping, and brainstorming sessions with all applicable departments and a diverse customer base (internal and external).
  • Participate throughout the entire capital work process by establishing sequenced schedule duration's outage coordination, preparing construction estimates, identifying resources (internal or contract), development and preparation of contractual agreements for necessary resources, commitment to fostering, encouraging, and policing all safety measures, performing quality assurance and control, verifying and processing of invoices, completion of as-builts, and project closeout.
  • Interface with multiple organizations, including identification of safety hazards, elimination/mitigation of hazards on projects, environmental stewardship, development of project scopes, development of project estimates, development of construction sequence plans, development of project schedules, performing constructability review, tracking/receiving materials and equipment, requesting contract proposals, identifying and initiating environmental compliance tactics, coordination of schedules, outage identification/coordination, deficiency resolution, quality assurance, reporting cost, issue resolution, and closure of projects.

Qualifications

Minimum Education: Bachelor's Degree in Engineering Discipline (typically Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, Chemical, and Industrial) from a four-year accredited institution. Degrees in engineering technology (typically, Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, Chemical, and Industrial) from a four-year accredited institution with PE may be considered.

Minimum Experience: Engineer III: at least 4 years of experience in an engineering discipline. Engineer Sr: at least 6 years of experience in an engineering discipline.

Preferred: power system, relay, or substation experience.

Certificates, Licenses, etc.

  • Engineer I - III: none
  • Engineer SR: EIT or Graduate Level Engineering Degree or MBA.
  • Preferred: EIT or PE

Schedule & location

This position may be domiciled in either Metairie, Baton Rouge, or Lafayette, LA. This position may be filled as an Engineer III or Sr. based upon the experience and qualifications of the selected candidate. Travel percentage: Up to 25%.
