Construction Engineer 2

SOLV Energy is a leading provider of infrastructure services to the power industry, designing, building and maintaining utility scale solar, battery storage and high voltage substation projects nationwide. This role is fully remote; specific location details and expectations will be discussed during the interview process.

About the role

The Construction Engineer 2 will support EPC operation related engineering concerns and provide general guidance on best practices from the start of construction through the end of SOLV’s warranty period.

Responsibilities

• Perform all essential Construction Engineer job responsibilities.
• Facilitate open communication between operations and engineering partners to improve transparency on operational challenges and potential remediations.
• Serve as the point of contact for operations to present engineering concerns, collaborating with SOLV Engineering, partners, and vendors to explain design methodology and provide engineered solutions.
• Assist the operations team with engineering-related construction RFIs (internal and external) during the construction phase, exhibiting urgency in resolving them.
• Understand all project-specific design requirements, including SOLV Energy requirements, client/contract requirements, and permit requirements.
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with site teams, including Superintendents, Foremen, and Project Management.
• Ensure sufficient knowledge of the SOLV EPC Contract to support operations and confirm compliance.
• Direct the implementation of autonomous pile driving systems to capture material, labor, and schedule savings associated with terrain-following racking systems.
• Assist the operations team with engineering-intensive clients and guide project teams through design comments with consultants.
• Support the warranty team in confirming responsibility for manufacturer failures, compromised design, and installation errors.
• Develop and lead project-specific training for project teams (Project Management and Field Teams) on GPS-enabled pile drivers, associated software, and internal proprietary tools.
• Support SOLV Energy’s development of continuous construction monitoring using drone technology.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Environmental Studies, Construction Management, or a related field.
• 2–5 years of construction-related experience or equivalent.
• Excellent written communication, documentation, and organizational skills.
• Aptitude for problem-solving and strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Ability to work effectively both independently and within a team environment.
• Proficiency in MS Office, particularly Excel.
• Exposure to CAD/GIS and aptitude for proficiency in these and other engineering software.
• Ability to read and understand project drawings and specifications.
• Field experience preferred.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. without requiring employer sponsorship now or in the future.

Work Environment

• Occasional exposure to weather, vibration, dust, fumes, electric shock, radiation, and toxic/caustic chemicals.
• Constant ability to see details at close range and at a distance, hear, talk, and possess depth perception.
• Occasional driving, climbing, carrying, proximity to moving mechanical parts, and working in high or exposed places.
• High noise intensity levels possible.
• Ability to work in both office and field settings, managing responsibilities during site visits.

Pay

$74,503 – $93,130 (salary).
