About the role
The Construction Coordinator supports the planning, organization, and oversight of construction and infrastructure activities within a mining operation. The role ensures that all construction work is executed safely, efficiently, and in alignment with engineering specifications, regulatory requirements, and project timelines.
Responsibilities
- Support development of construction execution plans, schedules, and work packages.
- Coverage of daily and weekly construction activities across multiple work fronts.
- Participation in pre-mobilization meetings, daily toolbox, and weekly coordination meetings.
- Reviewing engineering drawings, specifications, and scopes of work for constructability.
- Aid in forecasting labor, equipment, and material needs.
- Support progress verification and field measurement for pay applications.
- Site supervision and execution:
- Monitoring field construction activities for adherence to design, quality, and safety standards.
- Conducting regular site inspections to verify progress and identify risks.
- Coordination with contractors and subcontractors to resolve technical issues.
- Supporting the Construction Superintendent in managing work fronts and resource allocation.
- Cordination of multiple contractors and subcontractors working concurrently on site.
- Safety & Compliance:
- Promotion of a strong safety culture and ensuring compliance with mine safety regulations.
- Participation in Job Hazard Analyses, toolbox talks, and safety audits.
- Ensuring contractors meet site access, training, and permitting requirements.
- Enforcement of MSHA regulations, site safety standards, and project safety plans.
- Quality Assurance & Documentation:
- Verification of construction work meets engineering and quality standards.
- Maintenance of accurate records of daily progress, material usage, and workforce levels.
- Support development and review of Inspection Test Plans and quality checklists.
- Tracking and reporting deviations, non-conformances, and corrective actions.
- Identification and correction of unsafe conditions; stopping work when required.
- Assistance with incident investigations and corrective action tracking.
Requirements
- Strong field presence, hands-on coordination, and the ability to manage multiple fronts of work in an operational mining environment.
- Ability to walk, climb, and stand for extended periods, along with wearing appropriate PPE for tasks.
Qualifications
- Experience in construction management or related field.
- Knowledge of mining operations and safety regulations.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
