We exist to make humanity more free. Technology gave people more time for the things they wanted to do, instead of things they had to do. Powerful AI will be the biggest lever for human choice we've ever built—but only if models are aligned with what humanity actually wants. We're singularly focused on delivering 10 to 100s of GWs of compute faster than anyone else, rethinking every layer of the stack. We acquire power, design and build data centers, and operate them—with teams spanning hardware and software. Speed and scale are our key differentiators.
About the role
The Construction Team is tackling key problems:
- Put gigawatts in the ground faster than anyone has, delivering one of the largest data center buildouts of its kind with many sites running at once. Traditional construction management breaks at this scale, so we're building the model that replaces it.
- Throw out traditional construction and invent how gigawatts get built by stripping out unnecessary tools, processes, and administrative drag to focus on solving the real problem and beating the goal.
- Productize the data center so we can build it a thousand times, turning one-off construction into a repeatable, modular build where the hundredth site goes up faster and cleaner than the first.
Responsibilities
- Negotiate and close EPC, design-build, and GMP contracts for multi-hundred-megawatt data center builds, structuring terms that balance speed, cost, and risk across concurrent sites.
- Build the contract templates and playbooks that turn one-off negotiations into a repeatable kit deployed across every site in the pipeline.
- Own change orders and claims from first notice to resolution, keeping cost and schedule exposure visible to delivery leads before it lands on the critical path.
- Structure subcontractor and vendor agreements that lock pricing and lead times against a build calendar measured in months, not years.
- Quarterback across legal, finance, procurement, and site delivery to move a contract from term sheet to signature in weeks.
Requirements
- You've personally negotiated and closed large construction contracts (EPC, design-build, GMP, or lump-sum) on capital projects and held the terms when a counterparty pushed back mid-build.
- You've resolved change orders and construction claims worth millions without letting them stall the schedule or blow up the counterparty relationship.
- You read a construction contract for the risk that shows up eighteen months later, not just the price on signing day.
- You've built contract templates or playbooks that let a team run the same deal structure again and again instead of starting from a blank page each time.
- You quarterback across legal, finance, and field teams, and you're the person others call when a contract is stuck.
- You keep every term, exhibit, and amendment tracked cleanly across a portfolio of concurrent projects, and nothing gets lost in the noise.
Nice-to-haves
- Data center or mission-critical construction experience.
- Behind-the-meter or utility-scale power projects.
- Modular or productized build delivery.
- Working with AHJs and permitting authorities.
