Construction Contract Manager II

Key Responsibilities

• Manage construction contracts from bid award through project completion, including pre-construction coordination and contractor communication
• Serve as the City's representative during construction, conducting site visits, resolving issues, and ensuring work meets plans, specifications, and quality standards
• Cook up project schedules, shop drawing reviews, inspections, testing, and contractor payment approvals
• Review and negotiate change orders, contract adjustments, and completion timelines while maintaining project budgets and documentation
• Maintain regulatory permit compliance, SWPPP requirements, easements, and project documentation using the Project Management Information System (PMIS)

What You Bring

• Education & Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering Technology, Construction Technology, or a related field
  • Relevant construction or engineering experience may be considered in place of formal education
  • Experience working with contracts, construction documentation, or project coordination preferred
  • Basic experience using word processing and spreadsheet software
• Technical Skills & Knowledge:
  • Understanding of construction contracts, plans, and specifications
  • Working knowledge of construction methods and project management practices
  • Ability to review technical documents, reports, and legal or regulatory materials
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to work effectively with contractors, engineers, inspectors, and the public
  • Ability to write clear reports and maintain accurate project documentation
• Preferred Certifications:
  • Valid Indiana Driver's License (required if operating a City vehicle)
