Key Responsibilities
- Manage construction contracts from bid award through project completion, including pre-construction coordination and contractor communication
- Serve as the City's representative during construction, conducting site visits, resolving issues, and ensuring work meets plans, specifications, and quality standards
- Cook up project schedules, shop drawing reviews, inspections, testing, and contractor payment approvals
- Review and negotiate change orders, contract adjustments, and completion timelines while maintaining project budgets and documentation
- Maintain regulatory permit compliance, SWPPP requirements, easements, and project documentation using the Project Management Information System (PMIS)
What You Bring
- Education & Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering Technology, Construction Technology, or a related field
- Relevant construction or engineering experience may be considered in place of formal education
- Experience working with contracts, construction documentation, or project coordination preferred
- Basic experience using word processing and spreadsheet software
- Technical Skills & Knowledge:
- Understanding of construction contracts, plans, and specifications
- Working knowledge of construction methods and project management practices
- Ability to review technical documents, reports, and legal or regulatory materials
- Strong communication skills with the ability to work effectively with contractors, engineers, inspectors, and the public
- Ability to write clear reports and maintain accurate project documentation
- Preferred Certifications:
- Valid Indiana Driver's License (required if operating a City vehicle)
