Intern Job Description

Reporting Relationship: Depending on the work assignment, interns will report to a project manager, superintendent, project engineer or field engineer. You may be assigned to the office, jobsite or mix of both.

• Tasks Assigned:
  1. Quantity take-off
  2. Layout
  3. Preconstruction/as-built surveys
  4. Shop drawing review/approval & maintenance of log
  5. Submittal review/approval & maintenance of log
  6. Request for information (RFI) review/submission & maintenance of log
  7. Responding to subcontractor RFIs
  8. Interfacing with subcontractors & suppliers
  9. Attending weekly progress meetings
  10. Aiding in coordinating the work between the owner, architect & subcontractors
  11. Aiding in the bid process
  12. Aiding in reviewing construction documents & specifications
  13. Aiding in reviewing all document revisions & clarifications
  14. Aiding in maintaining field records
  15. Aiding in estimating/budgets/value engineering/constructability surveys
  16. Aiding in writing contracts & purchase orders
  17. Aiding in preparing billings to owner & submitting change orders
  18. Aiding in approving invoices
  19. Aiding in ordering & expediting materials
  20. Aiding in scheduling & updates
  21. Aiding in quality control & safety
  22. Aiding in settling contracts
  23. Aiding in performing costing, scheduling, estimating & project management
  24. Aiding in punchlist & project closeout
  25. Cooperating & working with field project management

Requirements: Open to undergraduate students interested in gaining hands-on practical experience in the construction field. Qualified applicants will assist project teams in managing construction projects/including all phases from bidding to final completion. Assignments include office and job site; relocation to a remote sites may be required. Transportation is required. 40 hours/week. Housing may be provided in certain situations.
