About the role
McMillan Pazdan Smith is an award-winning architecture, interior design, and advisory services firm with eleven studios located in the southeast. We are currently seeking a Construction Administrator to join our team in Charleston, SC.
Responsibilities
- Aid the project teams with construction administration activities on projects.
- Read, interpret, and understand plans, specifications, and other contract documents.
- Communicate with project architects, other Construction Administrators (CAs), and consultants as required to resolve project issues in a timely and well-organized manner.
- Perform quality control throughout the project lifecycle.
- Participate in mandatory monthly CA meetings on topics including technology, best practices, lessons learned, and other relevant topics.
- Participate in CA and designated design studio periodic meetings as well as project team meetings.
- Support the transition from design to construction by reviewing project schedules, design intent, special features, and client expectations.
- Maintain and update MPS record set documents, including filing, organization, and updating with revisions and RFI responses.
- Monitor project for compliance with construction documents and recurring client standards.
- Issue document revisions prepared by designers and process shop drawings and submittals promptly.
- Prepare field observation reports, including photographs, to document each site visit and record all conversations and instructions.
- Attend Owner/Architect/Construction (OAC) meetings and record accurate meeting minutes.
- Assist with generating and issuing punch lists and receiving, reviewing, and distributing third-party and special inspection test reports.
- Review and process change order requests and payment applications.
- Facilitate the completion of the general contractor's financial closeout and participate in post-construction closeout, including lessons learned discussions.
- Perform post-construction services and investigations as needed.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s / associate degree in construction science and/or management, architecture, engineering, or related field.
- 3-5 years combined experience in construction administration and/or architecture.
- Previous experience in an architecture, engineering, or construction industry firm.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to read and understand plan documents.
- Understanding of building technology fundamentals.
- Excellent time management skills.
