Construction Administrator

About the role
We are seeking a highly motivated Construction Administrator with experience managing the day-to-day operations of construction projects from start to finish. Relevant experience must include waterline, sanitary, and storm sewer installation. Additional experience with technical construction projects, including asphalt, concrete, water or wastewater treatment facilities, or a combination thereof, is expected.
Our construction team provides services for transportation, water, wastewater, architecture, and energy infrastructure projects, offering administration, management, resident inspection, or any combination of these. Our diverse experience allows us to guide contractors constructively, expedite field decisions, resolve disputes, and promote project savings and timely completion for our clients.
Responsibilities
- Process submittals
- Serve as the Construction Contract Administrator, administering the terms of the contract during construction projects
- Perform on-site observations/inspections to ensure compliance with contract documents, building codes, regulations, and industry standards, and prepare field reports (frequent job site visits required)
- Assist the Director of Construction with Construction Management or Administration responsibilities in the office as required
- Assist with bid period and construction administration services, including site visits and coordination with the owner and public agency(ies)
- Act as a liaison between design professionals, contractors, and clients
- Represent the firm at Pre-Bid, Bid, or Construction meetings as required
- Review RFIs, submittals/shop drawings, and schedules for compliance with contract documents
- Maintain accurate project documentation, including permits, drawings, specifications, and change orders
- Maintain and issue weekly meeting minutes, RFI, and submittal logs throughout the life cycle of the project
- Verify, review, and process monthly pay requests submitted by contractors
- Coordinate with regulatory agencies, consultants, and clients to obtain necessary approvals and permits
Requirements
- Experience in construction execution
- Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel to project sites as required
- Familiarity with basic construction processes, including the ability to read and interpret project plans, contract specifications, apply mathematical formulas, and engineering principles
- Experience with State and Municipal construction and materials specifications
- Experience in commercial, public works, or roadway projects
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work as part of a team, including leadership qualities to motivate and inspire others
- Attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality work
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
- Experience with Microsoft Office products
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering Technology, or Construction Engineering Technology
