Constellation Software Engineer, Infrastructure

About the role

We are seeking a Constellation Infrastructure Software Engineer to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have experience building and shipping full-stack applications, particularly with Ruby on Rails, Postgres, or similar technologies. They should also have a proven track record of maintaining 24/7 uptime systems and a clear understanding of the constraints involved in such systems.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain core infrastructure for manufacturing, launch, and flight operations.
• Develop and manage internal tools to support the operation of our smart weather balloons.
• Ensure the reliability and integrity of our data pipeline, which processes balloon observations and feeds them into customer-facing APIs.
• Architect and implement infrastructure to support projects requiring clearance.
• Implement pragmatic best practices to ensure the robustness, security, and stability of our systems.
• Work closely with operations, flight control, and hardware teams to drive software solutions.

Requirements

• Built and shipped full-stack applications with Ruby on Rails, Postgres, or equivalent.
• Experience with 24/7 uptime systems.
• Ability to implement pragmatic best practices based on real-world experience.
• Clear understanding of system constraints and the ability to structure database and service infrastructure for low-latency systems.

Qualifications

• Strong understanding of cloud services and infrastructure.
• Experience with Kubernetes, Docker, and containerization.
• Knowledge of AWS, Azure, or GCP.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines.
• Experience with DevOps tools like Ansible, Terraform, or Chef.

Skills

• Proficiency in Ruby, Python, or Go.
• Experience with SQL databases.
• Understanding of distributed systems and microservices architecture.
• Experience with monitoring and logging tools.
• Good problem-solving skills and ability to work under pressure.
