Consolidated Data Analytics Platform Elastic Engineer
Work with clients and peers to build a high-performing system using Elastic to aggregate logs from many systems into a single common schema. Use Elastic Common Schema (ECS) formatted fields, create quality visualizations and alerts that analysts can use for threat hunting, maintain infrastructure, and identify problems or anomalous behavior before they become larger issues. Collaborate with the vendor to determine best practices for deployment and maintenance of system architecture and deploy within designated security requirements.
Responsibilities
- Install, configure, maintain, upgrade, and troubleshoot Elastic Stack (Elasticsearch, Logstash, Kibana)
- Build high-quality Kibana visualizations and dashboards
- Design and manage log pipelines, converting raw logs into ECS-formatted documents
- Develop and maintain Logstash plugins, filters, regular expressions, and grok patterns
- Maintain infrastructure and identify anomalous behavior for proactive issue resolution
Requirements
- 2+ years of experience with Elastic Stack (Elasticsearch, Logstash, Kibana), including installation, configuration, maintenance, upgrades, and troubleshooting
- 2+ years of experience building high-quality Kibana visualizations and dashboards
- Experience with log pipelines and interpreting logs to determine information, including converting raw logs into ECS-formatted documents
- Experience with Logstash plugins, filters, regular expressions, and grok patterns
- Knowledge of cryptography protocols and standards (TLS, mTLS, hashing algorithms, PKI)
- Knowledge of federal compliance standards (NIST 800-53, FIPS, STIG, FedRAMP)
- Active Secret clearance
- HS diploma or GED
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and cloud containerization solutions (e.g., Elastic Cloud on Kubernetes - ECK)
- Experience with NiFi, Kafka, and Confluent
- Experience with Office 365 applications and Teams collaboration
- Experience interacting with tools through RDP, web-based UI, SSH, and CLI
- Experience in regulated environments (e.g., Department of Defense or Intelligence Community)
- Knowledge of Elastic Index Lifecycle Management (ILM)
- Knowledge of Linux or UNIX environments, including basic OS navigation and troubleshooting
- Knowledge of networking protocols
- Knowledge of system interactions and dependencies
- Knowledge of Zero Trust Architecture (ZTA) principles

Pay
Salary is determined by various factors, including location, education, knowledge, skills, competencies, experience, contract-specific affordability, and organizational requirements. The projected compensation range for this position is $86,900.00 to $198,000.00 (annualized USD).
Schedule
- Remote: May require occasional in-person work at a Booz Allen or customer facility
- Hybrid: Expected to work from a Booz Allen facility frequently, with potential visits to customer facilities
- Onsite: Work primarily performed at a Booz Allen office or customer facility
