POSTION SUMMARY

The Conflicts Attorney is a member of the Conflicts & Business Intake Department. This role includes the identification, analysis, and resolution of potential ethical and business conflicts of interest. *In doing so, this role ensures the firm maintains ethical standards in accordance with professional responsibility rules and firm policies.* This position works closely with Conflicts Counsel and Director of Conflicts Services and Business Intake.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Review conflicts reports and further summarize issues that require further actions.
  • Analyze and resolve conflicts of interest issues under applicable professional responsibility rules and firm policies.
  • Detail the actions required for requesting and affected partners, occasionally escalating to firm counsel.
  • Draft and edit waiver language in coordination with attorneys and firm counsel.
  • Oversee the conflicts clearance for lateral partner and associate hires.

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS

  • Law degree from an accredited law school and an active Illinois bar license required.
  • 2+ years of conflicts, risk, or compliance experience in a mid-large law firm.
  • Working knowledge of professional responsibility rules (e.g. ABA Model Rules, applicable U.S. State and Federal, and international bar ethics).
  • Experience reviewing conflicts reports involving corporate structures, related entities, and prior representations.
  • Experience using conflicts software (Intapp), research tools (D&B, CapIQ), etc.
