About the role
Ashurst Perkins Coie is seeking a dynamic Conflicts Attorney to perform conflicts analysis on new business and firm lateral hires, and advise firm lawyers on conflicts of interest issues. The role requires a thorough understanding of the Rules of Professional Conduct and the ability to manage a high volume of conflicts cases.
Responsibilities
- Independently analyze and resolve conflicts issues related to new business and firm lateral hires.
- Manage a large workload with minimal supervision, prioritizing tasks and meeting deadlines.
- Provide training on conflicts issues and coordinate workload coverage as needed.
- Lead small projects and serve as a strategic legal advisor to firm lawyers on complex conflicts of interest issues.
- Perform legal research and prepare legal memoranda in response to requests from firm lawyers and other departments.
- Resolve disputes over conflicts and waivers between lawyers.
- Communicate effectively both orally and in writing across the firm's U.S. and international offices.
Requirements
- Thorough knowledge of the Rules of Professional Conduct and their application to the practice of law.
- Strong database skills.
- Effective communication skills, both oral and written, across the firm's U.S. and international offices.
- Solid understanding of jurisdictional differences in the application of different rules and principles to use in making a choice of law.
- Ability to think creatively about solutions to issues raised.
- High attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently on complex legal issues.
- Experience with legal research and writing, ability to independently manage multiple tasks of varying importance.
Qualifications
- Juris Doctorate degree.
- Minimum of five (5) years of practice experience and minimum two (2) years of experience as a Conflicts Attorney I or equivalent senior level conflict/ethics experience.
- Active member in good standing in any jurisdiction required.
