Configuration Analyst

About the role

Eaton’s Electrical Critical Power Solutions Division is seeking a Configuration Analyst to join the team in Richmond, VA. The position serves as a critical link between Engineering and Operations by facilitating the implementation of engineering projects and sales order configurations within Eaton PDI's Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system. The analyst develops and maintains engineering documentation, creates and administers part numbers, and manages Bill of Materials (BOM). The role ensures engineering data is organized, accurate, and readily accessible to support efficient workflows across Quality, Procurement, and Customer Service functions.

Responsibilities

• Support Engineering Teams with releasing documents and updating them in the ERP system.
• Ensure all engineering documents are properly revision‑controlled following established processes.
• Examine engineering documents for accuracy and completeness; troubleshoot and resolve discrepancies with originating engineers.
• Process and implement Engineering Change Notices (ECN) and Deviations, following up to obtain approvals.
• Support part number creation and updates using the Product Data Management (PDM) tool.
• Generate and update Bill of Materials (BOMs) for Engineer‑to‑Order (ETO) and Configure‑to‑Order (CTO) product lines.
• Make engineering documents available to other departments in a timely manner and in accordance with established processes.

Qualifications

• High school degree or equivalent required.
• Must reside within a 50‑mile radius of Richmond, VA.
• Ability to read technical documents, mechanical drawings, and electrical schematics.
• Preferred: 2‑year associate’s degree or 2 years related experience.
• Preferred: Experience in Mechanical or Electrical CAD.
• Preferred: Experience using Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) systems for BOM management, configuration control, and engineering change processes (ECR/ECO).
• Preferred: Experience with ERP systems and understanding of how engineering data interfaces with manufacturing, sourcing, and cost control.
• Preferred: Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively across teams.
• Preferred: Excellent attention to detail, organization, and planning skills.
• Preferred: Lean Manufacturing experience.
• Strong computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.

Pay

Expected annual salary range: $56,000 – $83,000 (guideline; actual salary based on skills, experience, qualifications, market and business considerations).
