Position Summary
Essential Functions & Responsibilities
- Monitor batching, mixing, and delivery operations to ensure adherence to project specifications and quality standards.
- Perform various concrete/aggregate tests according to ACI and project specifications, including but not limited to slump tests, air content tests, compressive strength tests, gradations, and temperature monitoring.
- Conduct routine inspections of raw materials and finished products to verify compliance with quality standards.
- Maintain accurate records of test results and production data.
- Monitor and calibrate equipment as needed
- Identify and address any issues related to concrete quality or production processes promptly.
- Work with the plant team to implement corrective actions and preventive measures.
- Stay informed about new technologies and methodologies in concrete production and testing.
- Ensure the practice of safety standards in accordance with company policies and OSHA.
- Communication with supervisors, plant staff, field staff, and PennDOT inspection staff
Workdays & Shifts
- Must be available to work varied shifts (days, nights, weekends).
- Willingness to travel for extended periods of time.
Education/Certification(s)/License(s)
- ACI Concrete Field-Testing Technician Level I Certificate (or higher) - Required.
- Certified PennDOT Plant Technician - Required/ Willingness required to become certified
- Valid Driver's License - Required.
Experience/Knowledge
- Relevant experience in concrete production and quality control, preferably in highway construction projects- Required.
- Strong knowledge of ACI/ ASTM/ PennDOT standards and concrete testing methods - Required.
- Previous experience working with PennDOT - Strongly Encouraged.
- Mechanical aptitude - Required.
- Designing Concrete Mixes
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
