Concrete Finisher

About the Role

Concrete Finisher position in an industrial facility or construction jobsite setting. The role requires strong knowledge of pouring, leveling, forming, troweling, and operating troweling machines for finishing concrete. Safety awareness and the ability to use work-related tools and equipment effectively are essential.

Responsibilities

• Understand the purpose and proper technique for vibrating concrete
• Place, finish, protect, and repair concrete for projects
• Place and spread concrete using various tools and level/float the surface per project specifications
• Inspect completed work to ensure proper installation
• Cut rods to required lengths using metal shears, hacksaws, or bar cutters
• Assist other craft workers as needed

Requirements

• Minimum 2+ years' concrete finishing experience
• Experience working on heavy civil construction commercial job sites and/or industrial facilities

Physical Demands

• Push/pull, lift, or carry up to 50 lbs., occasionally up to 100 lbs.
• Subject to repetitive use of hands/arms and legs
• Hand/eye coordination
• Ability to communicate (hear, comprehend, and speak) to safely perform work
• Perform sedentary to heavy work
• Operate hand and power tools (electric, gas, and pneumatic)
• Climb and maintain balance on steel/wood framework, stairs, ladders, and scaffolds
• Prolonged bending/twisting, walking, crawling, kneeling, reaching overhead, squatting, pushing/pulling, or standing and lifting
• Walk on uneven surfaces, muddy conditions, loose rock, loose/soft sand, etc.
• Work in confined spaces
• Exposure to adverse weather conditions (heat, cold, rain, etc.)
• Reading and writing comprehension for giving/receiving directions and safety policies
• Ability to use math/complete calculations
• Work at various tempos and concentrate amid distractions
• Decision-making skills and detail-oriented

Work Environment

The job will primarily be on or around construction/turnaround sites in petrochemical operational units, including possible hazardous environments such as confined spaces and working at heights. Exposure to loud noises, dust, dirt, irritants, and smoke may occur. Special Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) may be necessary to control hazardous environments, and additional PPE may be required depending on the project. Safety requirements must meet client permits, policies, and procedures, and comply with all federal, state, and local laws or ordinances.
